Call for Session Proposals: Ghana IGF 2023

Stakeholders are invited to submit session proposals for the Ghana Internet Governance Forum (Ghana IGF) 2023. The deadline for submissions is 5th June 2023, 23:59 GMT. Proposals should align with the overarching theme of the event, “Building a Secure and Sustainable Digital Future,” and focus on the eight sub-themes outlined below. Hybrid Ghana IGF:

The Ghana IGF 2023 will be organized in a hybrid format, accommodating both physical attendees in Ghana and virtual participants. Session organizers must consider interactivity and adapt their proposals to the hybrid format. The evaluative process by the IGF Steering Committee will take into account the incorporation of hybrid interactivity for workshop proposals.

Session Types:

The Ghana IGF 2023 offers various session types for stakeholders to apply. These include:

  1. Workshops:

Workshops provide an opportunity to delve into specific Internet governance topics and foster discussions among participants. Workshop proposals can be submitted by individuals or groups from any stakeholder category, such as civil society, the technical community, the private sector, or the government. Diversity in perspectives, gender, region, stakeholder group, age, and physical ability are encouraged in the organizing teams.

2. Open Forums:

Open Forums are interactive sessions organized by governments, treaty-based international organizations, and entities with a local presence. These sessions should focus on relevant Internet governance activities and allow ample time for questions and discussions.

3. Town Halls:

Town Halls facilitate exchanges of views on national-level Internet governance issues. They provide an ideal platform for stakeholders to discuss current and emerging topics of interest. Government institutions and Organizations dealing with Internet governance issues can apply for Town Hall sessions.

4. Lightning Talks:

Lightning Talks offer brief and concise presentations on specific Internet governance issues. Stakeholders with a demonstrated interest in Internet governance or organizations seeking to present their work can apply for Lightning Talk sessions.

5. Networking Sessions:

Networking Sessions gather stakeholders interested in a particular Internet governance issue. These sessions promote interaction, allowing participants to connect and engage with one another. Networking Sessions can also serve as social gatherings or bring together stakeholder groups, or areas of activity.
